We have a 5 year old
Jonathan's birthday was a blast, and also a bit crazy for John and me. I guess we're old now. . . We gave him a super duper cooler than ever Spider-Man bike (4 bucks at a yard sale last summer,) and the pictures show pretty well how much he loved it.
Jonathan was a born natural. And so proud that he could acutally do it.
Jonathan also loved the very well chosen gifts from his grandparents - Thank you again! It was a perfect birthday for him. We did his cake in a cookie sheet (cooks in half the time, and also extra fun to decorate or make shapes with.)
It took him about 10 GIANT blows before he finally aimed right at the candles. . .
We went out for his birthday dinner to our favorite little Chinese restaurant, where the nice Chinese waiter/owner told us that in China the whole group has noodles for the birthday dinner. "Long noodles = Long life."
His favorite food is noodles anyway, so it worked out great. It was an awesome day. It's pretty cool having a 5 year old boy.
This kind of thing is super fun as a parent.
Seth cracks me up.

I love these guys.

We let the boys go to town on the frosting.

and got them all blown out. . .
But that just makes for a whole lot of satisfaction at the end. :)

Great pictures! I love the first one. "Ah wow!" It's just such a perfect face. :) And the last blowing the candle pic is fabulous. It looks like five spaced out candles were a bit more than he had bargained for. Love it. :)
And I so doing that sheet cake. Totally. Think of the possibilities! Trains, balls, stars, limitless. Joseph is going to lose his mind! :)

He even placed the candles, far apart like that - I wasn't trying to be tricky. : ) It was pretty cute tho. He's a funny kid.

Hey John, time to get in shape! When those training wheels come off you will have a lot of running to do, getting him ready to ride by himself! I'll tell you what, soccer is nothing! The weird thing is, I don't remember my dad being tired at all!
