Work in Progress. . .

I can't say how good it feels to draw again. This is James Madison. He's amazing.

i don't know that I can really even believe the level of spacial accuracy! Seriously? If it were finished it would be super tough to tell which is which.

There's a lot more where this came from if you'll go to the dance with me... I spent like three hours shading the upper lip.

I'm just kidding, Christine; you're a much better artist than I or Napoleon. I wish I could do that.

    LOL Joseph! :)

Mom, I decided I needed to get back into drawing because of a lot of reasons - I wanted to use my talents more that have been on the shelf for years and years, it's theraputic for me, and I wanted to do something that was really ME at my core, and just for me because I wanted to do it - art has a way of making me feel like me again, if that makes any sense at all. And it's so exciting for me to see it turning out good and to see this gift I've been given. Anyway, that's sort of an answer to the first part.

As for why Madison, he really is incredible. He's basically the author of both our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. We just watched that movie "A More Perfect Union," about the Pennsylvania Convention where the individual states decided to become the United States, and they debated and accepted the Constitution, so Madison was on my mind. He's also an amazing person to me because of his ability to compromise for the larger good, even if it's something he feels very strongly about. I'm pretty stubborn when I think (know) I'm right, but he was able to see a larger picture and compromise to something everyone could agree on, so that something good could come of the convention. The other reason I drew him this time is that it's easier to draw someone that I've never met, because I'm less critical if I didn't exactly capture that little something and it doesn't look exactly like them. So there you have it. :)
