The most awesome thing I've seen all day
Coming from someone who's crazy about linguistics, this was right down my alley. It's a quiz about the subtle things that define regional accents. Honestly, I think about this stuff every time I listen to people talk.

So here I am sitting in Utah, from Nevada, and I test midland. Should I move to Chicago? Hmmm... I almost moved to Kansas once. Maybe I'll just stay here with my average accent.

Did you read what the midland accent means? It just means it's the neutral accent of America. It means, wherever you live, you have'nt been deeply influenced by any local accents, and you've still maintained the "normal" American dialect. It's what newscasters try to emulate. Interesting.

I also tested Midland. Even after I went back and changed some of the answers that I initially wasn't as sure about, it still said I was Midland.
How'd it turn out for you?

John and I are midland as well. I suspected as much, since that is the dialect of people who "don't have accents" in America. None of us speak wildly different from the other's of the family, so I assumed we'd be the same. I'd be interested in a quiz like this that went into the super super subtle differences within regional accents, like Mesquite vs Saint George, or Brooklyn vs New York.
