All Hollow's Eve

We carved for FHE on the eve of Halloween. Jonathan was so excited, and kept on asking, "But when do we get to eat them?"

Jonathan and I took the traditional approach.

For Seth's pumpkin I stole Adam's spider idea from his pumpkin last year. For how quickly I managed to crank this baby out, I think it turned out pretty okay. This is after it had already wilted for a day.

This one was John's idea (did anyone wonder?) and we worked on it together. When Jonathan saw it the next morning he was wowed at first, but later was much more comfortable with the little guy OUT of the big guy's mouth, and kept rescuing him from what must surely have been a most gruesome death.

My awesome helper

As it turns out, there is a tough way to do just about anything.

Fantastic Four

Does it mean you are old if you have a four year old?? Even if it does, I'll take a four year old any day. Jonathan is just about the coolest kid ever. He's a close tie with Seth. Grandma and Grandpa Anderson gave Jonathan the most awesome soccer clothes that he wears any chance he can, for as long as he can.

And it so happens that his cousin Jacob across the street sports the exact same threads. How cool can it get?

Jonathan is being a pirate and Seth is giving it his best shot.

We knew we had to give him a watch because it has long been his top criteria for determining if a person were cool or not. Think about it. Most of the cool people he knows have em. So he felt pretty cool.

This table was the hit of the century. For the longest time it was the only acceptable place for any meal.

And of course, for the piéce de résistance for a four year old soccer boy, you simply gotta have a soccer cake.

We love our Jonathan. It was a great day.

The best real estate of the entire house

I think I would buy the house just for the hallway.

Something about it just invites little boys to run to their little hearts' content. Jonathan and Seth are crazy about playing soccer in the hallway and it is awesome to watch. Sometimes John and I join in and we all play together, with the goals being the back wall and the bookcase at the other end. The boys gallup up and down the hall on their pretend horses too. (Jonathan's horse used to be named Sea Biscuit, but yesterday he re-named it "Horse Power.") You should consider an addition of a hallway like this to your home. The possibilities for fun, exercise and entertainment are endless.

I've observed that there is a definite connection between the quality of the kick and the shape of the mouth.

Seth after a particularly successful kick. (Or while practicing to be the Karate Kid. Either way, the mouth suggests the quality of the performance.)

Talk about cute. I love boys.

Ketchup time

I haven't written in forever, but better late than really really late.
We had a great time with the new Sorensen couple at their wedding. That sun was about to melt us like a popsicle on the fourth of July, or maybe it was just that Mary is so incredibly hot.

And that lunch afterwards was impeccable. Jonathan was extremely grown up and Seth did an awesome job staying entertained through it all.
